Exclamation HTC HD2 Isn't Getting Windows Phone 7

We can talk about specifications all day long. We can even argue about it. But the truth of the fact is, that some times it's the most obvious thing that will cripple you and your ambitions. That seems to be the case for HTC's premiere Windows Mobile 6.5 device, the HD2. You'll probably remember it from a few posts here and there. We've been covering whether or not the device would be able to get the 7 Series upgrade later this year, even as it went up and down the roller coaster ride of yes and no.

Seems it's stuck at no, folks. And why? Because it doesn't have the necessary buttons mandated by Microsoft. Yep. Something as easy, simple, and utterly obvious, that it was staring at us the entire time. We were all too focused on the innards, noting over and over again that the 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, in collaboration with that beautiful 4.3" screen, was more than enough to run Windows Phone 7. But, alas, it doesn't have the three necessary keys: "Home, Search, and Back."

As it stands right now, it has the Start Key, End/Power Controls, Home, and Back key. So, because the beast doesn't have one button, it's forever stuck with Windows Mobile innards. This, ladies and gentlemen, dashes a lot of people's hopes. We here at Windows Phone Forums are right there with them. It should also be obvious at this point, that pretty much every Windows Mobile 6.5/6.5.3 device out there won't be upgraded to Windows Phone 7 either. For the obvious lacking hardware specs, as well as the buttons. Whether that be too many, or not enough. Well, LG, looks like the limelight can stay on you for a bit longer.
