There's still about a month to wait before we get any kind of official word about what Microsoft is planning for applications, their development, and how they will work on their 7 Series devices. Sure, a month isn't that long to wait, but we're pretty sure you'd rather get a little sneak peak before then, right? Of course you would.
Well, we're happy to oblige.
What we have here is a series of leaked documentation outlining the precepts regarding application development. Basically, as the title states, we have the policies and guidelines that developers, from OEMs to the independent ones, must follow before their app will be given the go-ahead for disbursement through the Marketplace.
Perhaps the biggest revelation, and what people are waiting to hear most, is in regards to multitasking. Will it work? Is Microsoft banning it from their OS, in hopes that it will improve functionality and battery life? The answer seems to be a little bit of both. From the documentation, we can tell that the system is
able to multitask, but Microsoft seems to have the final word on whether or not applications
need to be able to multitask. This makes sense, because not every single application needs to be opened in the background once it's open. Android fails at this, and is notorious for slowing down its systems because of it.
Go ahead and take a look at the documentation. Whether you're a developer or not, it's pretty enlightening.
